Nuk Tessli

A Hiking Paradise on the Mountaintops

Nuk Tessli is located in a completely unspoiled plateau that rolls across the tops of the Coast Mountain Range, called the Charlotte Alplands.  It is a fly-in lodge on the shores of beautiful Whitton Lake at 1,500 meters altitiude - there is no road access.  In the surrounding area wildflowers blanket the hillsides, small sub-alpine fir nestle around crystal clear lakes, while caribou and mountain goat roam freely.  The Alplands have the highest concentration of alpine lakes in British Columbia.  It is a pristine wilderness like none other, and a hiking paradise.

You can fly to Nuk Tessli from Nimpo Lake by float plane for just a day trip, or stay for multiple days.  It is your choice.

Accommodations

The Nuk Tessli lodge is a comfortable log building a wonderful lake and mountain view, which is meant for dining and gathering.  It is surrounded by three log cabins for accommodation.  The cabins can sleep 5 or 6 people in a combination of double, queen and twin beds.  The cabins are equipped with wood stove heat, fresh running water, clean compost toilet, solar lighting, and USB outlet chargers.

A comfortable wilderness experience - don't miss the outdoor wood-heated hot tub.

Dining

Nuk Tessli provides hearty home-cooked meals in a friendly communal environment in one of the original cabins that serves as its lodge.  Meals are always a happy affair where great cooking is enjoyed and stories of the day's experiences are told.  The cabin has spectacular views of Monarch Mountain to the west and Wilderness Mountain to the south, and two decks from which to lounge and enjoy the lovely sunsets.

Breakfasts are from 8-9:00.  Lunch is from the do-it-yourself sandwich bar and is usually a bag lunch to take with you.  Dinner includes soup, main course, salad, and dessert.  Home-brew beer and wine may be available.

Activities

Nuk Tessli is a unique off-grid ecotourism centre specializing in tailor-made hiking and canoeing trips.  The resort is operated by the father and son team of Doron Erel and Sela Bucovetsky, who have a wealth of experience in wilderness hiking, trekking, canoeing, and mountaineering.  Fly in from Nimpo Lake for a day trip, or stay for a few days and explore the vast mountaintop plateau:

Backcountry Hiking - Everything from 2.5 hour hikes along easy trails, to strenuous 13 hour hikes to the surrounding peaks, and everything in between. Your hikes can be either guided or unguided.
Canoeing - Nuk Tessli is on the shores of beautiful Whitton Lake, and is connected to a chain of lakes that can all be explored either with a guide or on your own.
Glacier Lake Trips - Amazing day or overnight tours to Jacobson Lake or Ape Lake, both beautiful lakes with massive glaciers that flow into the lakes from the surrounding peaks.  These are guided trips with full equipment provided.
